Before Your Neuromodulator
- If you’ve started any antibiotics or other medications since your initial visit with us, please let us know.
- Avoiding Advil®, Ibuprofen®, Aleve®, Aspirin®, Motrin®, Vitamin E, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory products 14 days prior to treatment will help decrease your chance of bruising. Do not stop taking any medications that have been prescribed to you without first discussing it with your prescribing physician.
- Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages 48 hours before treatment to reduce the chance of bruising.
- To help reduce the chance of bruising, start taking oral Arnica 7-10 days before treatment. Take as directed on the bottle.
- If you are being treated for excessive sweating, you may wear deodorant on the day of your appointment.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot be treated.
- Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment cannot be treated. Patients must be in remission for 6 months to be treated.
- Please inform your Master Provider of all medical conditions, medications you are taking, skin disorders, allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems.
- 5 DAYS BEFORE treatment:
- AVOID over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve. Other supplements to avoid are: supplements, such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid extra bruising.
- Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on anti-viral therapy prior to treatment.
- Do not use any botulism toxin (Botox® or Dysport® or Daxxify® or Jeuveau® ) if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders.
- Please inform your provider if you have any questions about this prior to the treatment.
After Your Botox® or Dysport® or Daxxify® or Jeuveau® Treatment
- You may have some tenderness to site that can last a few minutes or hours but tolerable.
- Headache may occur- you can take acetaminophen if no allergy .
- It is best to try to exercise your treated muscles for 1-2 hours after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting). This helps to work treatment into your muscles.
- Do not participate in any strenuous exercise or saunas for a minimum 24 hours.
- Do not massage or manipulate injection sites for 24 hours.
- No pressure to the sites for at least 4 hours
- Bruising may occur after injections, and typically resolves within 14 days.
- Allow 10 days for Botox®, Dysport® or Daxxify® Or Jeuveau® to fully set in before judging the final result, even though some benefits are typically seen earlier. In some clients, it may take up to 14 days to reach full effect. An improvement in skin appearance may begin after toxin is fully set in.
- If you are being treated for excessive sweating, you may wear deodorant after your treatment.
- Botox®, Dysport® or *Daxxify® Or Jeuveau® are FDA indicated to last about 3 -*4 months. However, everyone is unique and the longevity and amount of product required will differ per person.

Before Your Dermafiller appointment
- Please plan your treatment to allow for several days or more of potential swelling, tenderness, and bruising.
- If you have an active cold sore/fever blister, canker sore, shingles you will need to postpone treatment. If you are prone to developing cold sores/fever blisters or shingles, please contact us 1 week before treatment for recommendations.
- No Vycross Juvederm fillers (Voluma, Vollure, Volbella) to be done within 2 weeks of any dental work of dental cleaning.

- Do inform your Provider of all medical conditions, medications you are taking, skin disorders, allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems.
- Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages 48 hours before treatment to reduce risk of bruising.
- To reduce the risk of bruising, consider taking over the counter Arnica supplements if not contraindicated with your current medication regimen (available online, at most supplement stores, at [Practice Name], Whole Foods, etc). Start taking oral Arnica 7-10 days before treatment. Take as directed on the bottle.
- If you are having dermal filler placed to your tear trough, please take an antihistamine (Claritin, Zyrtec®, or Loratadine) for 3 days prior to treatment to help reduce post-treatment swelling.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot be treated.
- Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment cannot be treated. Patients must be in remission for 12 months to be treated.
- If you have recently used the medication Accutane, it is recommended to postpone treatment until at least six months after stopping the medication.
- Tylenol® will not increase the chance of bruising and is preferred for the week prior to treatment. To help with possible discomfort, you may take acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol®) one hour prior to your scheduled appointment. Do not take more than 3000mg of acetaminophen/Tylenol® in a 24 hour period.
After Your Dermafiller Treatment
- You might have some redness and swelling that should resolve within several days. Bruising may occur, and may last up to 14 days. Cold compresses/ice may be used gently after treatment to reduce swelling.
- You may apply a cold compress to the area for several seconds at a time, up to 15 minutes per hour, and you may do this hourly for 3 days.
- Certain areas of the face such as the undereyes, will swell more than others. Swelling and bruising may last several days to weeks.
- Call our office if you notice blanching (whitening of the skin) or increased pain to area.
- Do not manipulate, push, or rub injection sites within the first 48 hours.
- Exercise should be avoided within the first 24-72 hours as it may increase swelling.
- Your skin may be more sensitive during the first several days after treatment.
- Use gentle skin care products during this time and wait 3 days before using harsher treatment products such as retinol, or AHA. Gentle cleansers can typically be used several hours after treatment.
- Wait at least 24 hours to apply make up
Sculptra® Treatment
Before your Sculptra® Treatment
- Please plan your treatment to allow for several days of potential swelling, soreness and bruising.

After your Sculptra® Treatment
- Do massage the treated areas 5 times a day for about 5 minutes for 5 days after treatment.
- Following your procedure, you may experience soreness in the jaw and in the treated area which may last for several days. You may hold ice packs on the treated areas gently for several seconds at a time to minimize discomfort.
- Feel free to wear makeup a few hours after treatment.
- Treated areas may be red, swollen, and bruised for the first 2-14 days.
- Avoid strenuous workouts and alcohol for 24 hours.
- A few days after treatment, the injected volume will absorb and you will look as you did before treatment. This is normal. Your body will gradually build collagen in the treatment areas and full results may be seen in about 3 months.
Follow-Up Treatments
- Follow up treatments should be scheduled every 6 weeks until treatment is completed (2-3 treatments for desired correction is normal).
- Visible results may not be seen until 2-3 sessions have been completed.
- Results can last more than two years.
Microneedling Treatment
Before your Microneedling Treatment
- Schedule your procedure to allow for about 3-5 days of facial redness, possibly bruising and flaking.
- Avoid any irritants (such as retinol, retinoid, glycolic, salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, astringents, Nair™ and Vitamin C) to your face for 7 days before treatment.
- If your skin is irritated please contact our office at least 24 hours prior to appointment to reschedule. If you have skin conditions, psoriasis, cystic or inflammatory acne, inform your clinician.
- If you have an active cold sore/fever blister, canker sore, or shingles you may need to postpone treatment, please check in with your provider. If you are prone to developing cold sores/fever blisters or shingles, please contact us 1 week before treatment for recommendations.
- Do not schedule a procedure if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding clients can not get microneedling.
- Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment cannot be treated. Patient must be in remission 6 months to be treated.
- You can do a microneedling before Botox®/Dysport® etc. on the same day, but not vise versa. If you have had microneedling, please wait at least 24 hours before scheduling a Botox® appointment.
- Inform your clinician of all medical conditions, medications you are taking, skin disorders, allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems.
- Tylenol® will not cause bruising and is preferred for the week prior to treatment. To avoid possible discomfort, you may take 1g of acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol®) one hour prior to your scheduled appointment.
- If you have recently used the medication Accutane, it is recommended to postpone treatment until at least six months after stopping the medication.
- Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved 24 hours before treatment.
- Although you will see some results after 1 microneedling session, for best results we recommend a series of 3-6 microneedling sessions, depending on the condition being addressed.
After your Microneedling Treatment
- During the first 24 hours, you will need to keep your skin well moisturized with recommendations provided by clinician. Do not use any other products or makeup day of procedure. The morning after procedures skin may be rinsed gently with lukewarm water and gentle cleanser ( Cerave or Cetaphil) .
- Makeup may be applied after 24-48 hours post treatment. Mineral makeup is best.
- After the procedure, your skin may look and feel like you have a sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly by the next day following treatment. After 3 days most visible erythema (superficial reddening of the skin) will be resolved. Continue moisturizing with a non- moisturizer like Cerave with SPF during day and moisturizer at night.
- Do not exercise for 48 hours post treatment as sweating can irritate the skin and cause an outbreak
- 3-5 days post treatment, resume a normal gentle skin care regimen unless otherwise instructed by your clinician. You may find that you are sensitive to products that you usually use and tolerate well–wait 5-7 days before applying retinols, Vitamin C or salicylic acid, or glycolic acids. If your skin still feels more sensitive than usual, hold off on these products and continue using gentle moisturizer.
- Some clients may experience flaking 3-5 days post treatment. If this occurs do not pull or pick flaking skin. Continue using a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer until flaking resolves. You may schedule a dermaplane 5-7 days after treatment to help exfoliate flaking.
- You should always wear an SPF of 30 when exposed to any sunlight. Stay Hydrated. Consider a wide rim hat if you need to be out in the sun for a short period.
Follow Up
- While you may see visible results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will be seen after 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, supplemented by a recommended skin care regimen.
- We recommend maintenance treatments after your initial series of 3-4 times a year.
- Please note that skin-damaging activities such as smoking and sun exposure can damage your skin and prevent you from seeing full results.
